We are family owned and operated out of Fairfax Station, Virginia. Northern VA has been our home since the beginning, 1975! Our president John Lewett resides in Fairfax, VA. Many employees at JL Tree Service have been with the company for over 10 years. Some have been here for over 20 years. Others have dedicated over 30 years of service. Impressively, some even surpass 40 years with us. Our company values a safety first policy and culture. We are customer service focused as well, and take good care of our customers and their properties. Below is a snapshot of some of our valued personnel.

John Lewett

President

John Lewett started JL Tree Service back in 1975 with a few friends, some help from his famlily, some trucks and chainsaws. Today, the company is a leading provider of tree services in Northern VA, MD, and DC.

Sean Lewett

Certified Arborist

Sean Lewett has been with JL Tree Service full time since 2009. He holds a Bachelors and a Masters Degree from George Mason University. He is an ISA Certified Arborist MA-5018A. Sean is also a TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional #00632 . He has worked as the General Manager, Scheduler, Estimator and more. His passion for trees, customers, employees, and his Dad’s company are obvious.

John Lowe

Salesman

John Lowe has been with JL Tree Service since 1981! John has performed many functions throughout all those years such as tree climber, foreman, general manager, and salesman. John is as loyal and trustworthy as they come. He is such a valuable employee and always makes himself available for any task at the company.

Nick Shively

Certified Arborist

Nick is a ISA Certified Arborist (MA-5872A), certified tree risk assessor, college graduate, and has worked for some great organizations in the past. We are extremely pleased to have Nick representing our company in Arlington, Alexandria, and Washington DC. Nick brings much knowledge and experience such as tree biology, disease/diagnosis, plant health care, tree worker safety, and much more.

William Todhunter

Certified Arborist

Bill is a salesman, ISA Certified Arborist, and holds a degree from George Mason University. Bill is knowledgeable about trees, a close family friend, and we are grateful to have Bill out there in the field representing our company.

Ronnie Graves

Manager

Ronnie has been with JL Tree Service since 1979! Ronnie has had many positions with our company over the years, and currently works as manager overseeing daily operations and scheduling most all of the work for our customers.

Jose Alvarado

Certified Tree Care Safety Professional

Jose Alvarado has worked for JL Tree Service Inc since 1999. Jose has worked his way from a tree climber, then tree crew foreman into becoming a salesmen and safety manager. Jose is our CTSP – certified tree care safety professional and leads our safety meetings. He is known for being very positive and always keeping a humorous way about him!

Peter Esseff

Certified Arborist

Pete has been with JL since 2010. He has both ISA Certification as an Arborist and a Maryland Tree Expert License.

With an extensive experience of trees over 20 years he will give you the best advice from that experience.

Oakton Vienna Reston Herndon Sterling Ashburn and Leesburg are well known to him.

Jason Hoptiak

Salesman

Jason had his own company for many years. A few years back, he sold to us and is now a key member of our sales team. Jason has been doing tree work ever since he became of working age!

Jeanne Cooper

Office Controller

Jeanne is JL’s sister. They are very close! She handles all of JL’s books! Jeanne has been with the company since 1988.

Angie Jones

Office Manager

Angie handles the account receivables and invoicing. She is also the office manager and has a great upbeat personality, and enjoys playing soccer! Angie has been with the company since 2013.

Lorena Reyes

Accounts Receivable

Lorena handles A/R and many other IT related tasks.

Andrea answers the phones, checks online leads, and more! Andrea has been with the company since 2020.

Pedro Martinez

Manager

Pedro is a managers and helps to supervise all of the tree crews. He has been with the company since 1998

Edwin Lopez

Stump Crew Manager

Edwin is the stump crew manager. Edwin also is a heavy equipment operator. He has been with the company since 2022, but was with us 3 years before then as well.
